It is an election year in the United States. A lot of politicians want to be reelected, so there will be quite a bit of good news. However the overall situation is getting worse because the debt keeps going up.

The profits in America probably won’t get much higher. There may be a slowdown soon, and the markets are already anticipating it. However, protection isn’t that expensive.

Everyone has to invest for themselves. You shouldn’t make investments based on what the media says to buy.

It’s not good that governments print money, but that’s all they know how to do. To protect yourself, you should buy real assets.

There is going to be more currency turmoil in the next couple years as these imbalances are sorting themselves out.

Real estate in China is going to suffer. China has been trying to slowdown their markets for a while now.

Euros looks like a good opportunity. There are lots of great opportunities in Europe if you are willing to look for them.

China has been trying to slow down their economy for 3 years. This will present opportunities for everyone. It would be even better if their economy completely collapsed.

Jim Rogers is nearly always hedged one way or the other. He is very pessimistic about the US stock market.

Obama wants to get reelected, so he will put out as much good news as he can, whether artificial or not.

Myanmar is an astonishing opportunity. They are the poorest country in Asia, and they have recently opened up to the world.

Right now, you should wait for a pullback before you buy any gold or silver. Gold could get as low as 1200, but both precious metals will be going much higher over the next decade.

Jim Rogers, who made millions in the American markets, has since moved to Singapore.

If capitalism had been allowed to work, we wouldn’t have had the prosperity of the 2000s, and we wouldn’t have the collapse that recently occurred.

It’s absurd. The way that the system is supposed to work is for competent people to take over for the incompetent people.

This whole system is socialist and communist.

Jim Rogers is a guest today on the Everything Financial Radio program.

Many countries are past their capacity for debt. Germany could take on some more, but in general the world is over its head.

The end of all this could very well occur between 2012 to 2015.

The best thing to do right now is to recognize reality. Let people suffer. They are bankrupt. The longer they delay, the tougher the market will be. At that point the whole system may collapse.

There will definitely be problems in the United States somewhere in 2012 or 2013.

No country is going to have decreasing debt in the near future. The debt will continue to go higher. The markets will eventually force us to act.

When the markets are crashing, everyone is panicking, and the whole system could collapse.

2012 is an election year, so the governments and central banks will do everything they can to get the politicians reelected. However by 2013 the game will be up.

A few people will benefit from all this, but on the whole we will be worse off.

Commodities will go up whether the economy does well or badly, so that can be a good place to be.

The difference between the 1930′s and now is that the central banks are all ready to print money. We will have an inflationary collapse, which will lead to deflation around the world.

It’s hard to find a sound paper money anymore. Singapore is sound, but if they remain that way, they won’t be able to compete on the world market. Paper money is being destroyed all over the world.

It is going to be a very interesting world in 10 years.

If you have your money in a brokerage account or a 401K, then you need to be careful. Unless you know a lot about something, don’t invest at all.

Learn about real assets, like silver and rice.

Jim Rogers was recently the featured guest with Lauren Lyster on her new show Capital Account. He came straight from the gym just to talk to her.

Even Karl Marx realized that you have to have capital in order to have an economy. If you destroy the class of people who save and invest, then you are destroying the entire economy.

The United States has once again changed the way they measure inflation, and the new method shows a lower level of inflation.

If you listen to the government in order to make money, you are going to go broke.

The Federal Reserve in totally incompetent. They have been wrong and their policies have been wrong.

The United States has already lost a decade. We might have 2 or three bad decades.

Huge distortions are being built up in the world economy. There will be a tremendous amount of turmoil ahead of us.

The cost of living is going to go through the roof. People are going to suffer so that a few companies can do better.

If the dollar loses value, 300 million Americans will suffer. An overvalued dollar means we can travel to Paris or buy high quality goods from abroad.

China might begin buying European bonds. It wouldn’t be a good investment, but it would give them a bit more political power in those countries.

If you pump out billions of dollars, everything can look better for a time. But 2 years or 3 years from now, these built up problems will have serious consequences.

Many people disagree with Jim Rogers and his view on commodities and China. If you believe them, then short commodities and short China. We will see who is correct in 5 or 6 years.

China will have setbacks. The United States in the 19th century had 15 recessions and a civil war. Yet they became the most important country in the world.

During times of war, nearly everything goes down, but then they put there money where they perceive safety. This means gold, oil, and even the US Dollar could go up.

Jim Rogers likes all the raw materials. When currencies have been debased, the way to make money is to be in real assets. When they print money, you’ve got to own real assets.

Sometime over the next several years, oil will go over $147. That doesn’t mean it won’t go to $80 in the meantime, but the trends is up.

The Fed isn’t just buying Treasury bonds. Their QE1 and QE2 didn’t help the economy at all. It sent markets up, but that’s about all.

There is more than one way to play the investment markets. 2013 and 2014 will probably be a disaster, but 2012 could look good.

Inflation is always a disaster for people who don’t understand what is going on. It is a redistribution of wealth.

The methodology of reporting inflation always changes. The government wants to report low inflation. According to the government, there is hardly any inflation in the United States. But everyone who goes shopping knows that prices are up. They are lying.

Interest rates are near zero. Savers are not getting any return on their investment. The borrowers are benefiting. This has never been good for an economy. It always leads to bad consequences, and it will get bad in the United States.

Jim Rogers is still very optimistic about Agriculture in the future.
